Executive Summary
An image is being widely shared on social media with the claim that Iranian missile forces targeted an LPG tanker heading towards India, causing a massive fire onboard. CyberPeace Research Wing ’s research found the claim to be misleading. The research revealed that the viral image is not related to any recent Iran-India development or any missile attack. The image actually shows a fire incident involving the Cameroon-flagged LPG tanker MV Falcon near the coast of Aden, Yemen, in October 2025, and is being circulated with a false context.
Claim
A Facebook user shared the viral image on July 8, 2026, claiming: “Iranian missile force has struck an LPG tanker going to India.” The post link, archive link, and screenshot are provided below.

Fact Check
To verify the viral claim, we conducted a keyword-based search on Google. However, we did not find any credible media report confirming that an India-bound LPG tanker was targeted by Iranian missile forces. During the research, we extracted keyframes from the viral image and conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens. The search led us to a report published by NDTV on October 20, 2025, which contained the same visuals as the viral image. The report link and screenshot are provided below.

According to the NDTV report, a fire broke out onboard the Cameroon-flagged LPG tanker MV Falcon following an explosion near the coast of Aden, Yemen. The incident involved 23 Indian crew members, who were rescued safely. The incident occurred on October 18, 2025, at around 07:00 UTC, when the vessel was sailing approximately 113 nautical miles southeast of Aden while heading towards Djibouti. Following the explosion, the vessel went adrift and around 15% of the ship was engulfed in flames. Further verification through keyword searches led us to an India Today report published on October 20, 2025, which also confirmed that the MV Falcon caught fire after an explosion off the coast of Aden, Yemen. The report stated that all 23 Indian crew members onboard were rescued. The report also mentioned that authorities had initiated an research into the incident and ruled out speculation that the explosion was caused by a Houthi attack. The report link and screenshot are provided below.

Conclusion
Our research found that the viral claim is misleading. The image being shared as proof of an Iranian missile strike on an India-bound LPG tanker is actually from an unrelated incident that occurred in October 2025. The image shows the fire that broke out onboard the Cameroon-flagged LPG tanker MV Falcon near Aden, Yemen, following an explosion. The old image is being circulated with a false narrative linking it to Iran and India.

Executive Summary
A video is being widely shared on social media claiming to show a helicopter's thermal camera capturing hundreds of crocodiles hidden along the Amazon River at night. The footage appears to show a thermal imaging view of a river and its banks, where hundreds of crocodiles can allegedly be seen. Users claim the video was recorded using night-vision/thermal imaging technology over the Amazon River. CyberPeace Research Wing’s research found the claim to be false. The research revealed that the viral video is not authentic but has been generated using artificial intelligence (AI) and is being circulated with a fabricated claim.

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DalJ41bIezV/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet

Fact Check
To verify the claim, we extracted several keyframes from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens. However, we found no credible news reports, authentic videos, or reliable sources confirming that the footage was recorded over the Amazon River.
We then conducted a detailed visual analysis of the video. The footage exclusively shows crocodile-like figures spread across the river and its banks, while no other aquatic animals or natural environmental activity—normally expected in a river ecosystem of that scale—are visible. These inconsistencies raised further doubts about the video's authenticity.
As part of our verification, we analysed the video using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation. The analysis indicated a 95.7% probability that the video was AI-generated.

As part of our verification, we analysed the video using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation. The analysis indicated a 95.7% probability that the video was AI-generated.

Conclusion
Our research found that the viral video does not show a genuine thermal-camera recording of the Amazon River. The footage was created using artificial intelligence and is being circulated online with a false and misleading claim.

Executive Summary
A photo allegedly showing injuries to Seema Haider has been widely circulated on social media. Users are claiming that her husband Sachin Meena assaulted her. However, a fact-check by CyberPeace Research Wing has found the claim to be false. The research reveals that the viral image is AI-generated and is being shared with a misleading narrative.
Claim
On X (formerly Twitter), a user shared the image on May 14, 2026, claiming that Sachin Meena assaulted Seema Haider.

Fact Check
A keyword-based search on Google did not return any credible media reports supporting the viral claim.
A closer visual examination of the image raised suspicions of AI generation. The image was first analysed using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation, which indicated a 99% probability that the image is AI-generated.

Further analysis using another AI detection tool, Sightengine, also produced similar results, confirming a 99% likelihood that the image was generated using AI tools.

Conclusion
The viral image is AI-generated and misleading. The claim that Sachin Meena assaulted Seema Haider is false and has no factual basis.

Executive Summary
Amid ongoing tensions in West Asia, a video has been circulating on social media claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged women not to visit beauty parlours as part of an appeal related to fuel conservation. Users are widely sharing the clip as genuine. However, a fact-check by CyberPeace Research Wing has found the claim to be false. The research revealed that the original video, which discussed saving petrol, diesel and cooking gas, has been digitally edited using AI tools and shared with a misleading narrative.
Claim
An Instagram user shared the viral video on May 15, 2026, claiming that the Prime Minister advised women against visiting beauty parlours.

Fact Check
A keyword-based search on Google did not return any credible media reports supporting the viral claim. To verify the video, keyframes were extracted and run through reverse image search. The original footage was traced to the official YouTube channel of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, uploaded on May 10, 2026.

The video shows a rally held in Hyderabad, where the Prime Minister appealed to the public to save fuel by adopting work-from-home practices, promoting swadeshi goods, and refraining from purchasing gold for one year. However, nowhere in the full video is there any mention of advising women not to visit beauty parlours.
Further analysis also raised suspicion that the viral clip had been digitally altered using AI tools. The video was scanned using the HIVE Moderation AI detection tool, which indicated that it is approximately 88% likely to be AI-generated or manipulated.

Conclusion
The viral video is misleading. The original speech by Prime Minister Narendra Modi about conserving petrol, diesel and cooking gas has been edited using AI tools and circulated with a false claim targeting women visiting beauty parlours.

Executive Summary
Amid the ongoing geopolitical tensions involving the US, Israel, and Iran, and reports of disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz affecting cargo ship movement and global crude oil prices, several posts on social media have made a viral claim. The posts allege that Indian cargo vessels are being allowed to pass through the Strait of Hormuz after payments to Iran were made in Chinese currency, the yuan. The claim has been widely circulated from certain social media accounts, suggesting a shift in India’s trade and payment arrangements. However, a fact-check by CyberPeace Research Wing has found the claim to be false.
Claim
A social media user “MEHF voice 2.0” shared a viral post (archived link), claiming that an Indian oil tanker secured passage through the Strait of Hormuz by making payments in Chinese yuan. The post further suggested that India had formed a new alignment with China, bypassing the US dollar system.

Fact Check
Due to US sanctions, Iran is excluded from the international banking network SWIFT, which prevents direct trade settlements in US dollars or euros. As a result, India and Iran conduct trade through a specially designed rupee–rial payment mechanism. According to a Ministry of Commerce and Industry release (based on a written reply in Parliament), India and Iran established this arrangement to facilitate bilateral trade using local currencies instead of the US dollar.

Further, information from the Indian Embassy in Tehran notes that rupee-based payments are processed through UCO Bank and Iranian banks with vostro accounts, enabling trade settlement outside sanctioned banking channels. IDBI Bank has also been part of efforts to expand rupee-based transactions with Iran.
The Ministry of External Affairs’ official fact-check handle has also debunked this claim, confirming that it is false.

Conclusion
The viral claim that Indian oil tankers are paying in Chinese yuan to pass through the Strait of Hormuz is false. India and Iran conduct trade settlements through a rupee–rial payment mechanism, not through the Chinese currency.

Executive Summary
A video circulating on social media claims that during a summit in Beijing, Donald Trump was seen peeking into Chinese President Xi Jinping’s “private notebook” while Xi briefly stepped away. However, a fact-check by CyberPeace Research Wing found the claim to be baseless. A review of the full event footage clearly shows that the folder in question belonged to Donald Trump himself, not Xi Jinping. The viral interpretation is therefore misleading.
Claim
An X user shared the clip alleging, “Trump caught sneaking a peek at Xi Jinping’s private notebook during a Beijing banquet while Xi stepped away.”

Fact Check
A longer version of the video, shared by NBC News on May 14, shows the state banquet held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Around the 1-minute-50-second mark, Xi Jinping, seated to Trump’s left, gets up and walks to the podium. The viral clip follows shortly after, showing Trump opening the folder placed to his left and flipping through its pages.

The White House also uploaded the full footage on its official YouTube channel, showing wider, uninterrupted shots of the event. Around the two-minute mark, the announcer says, “And now a toast by President Xi,” after which Xi Jinping stands up. Immediately after, Trump is seen opening the folder on his left and reading from it.

Later in the video, around the 12-minute mark, when Xi returns to his seat, Trump is seen standing up, taking the folder with him to the podium, turning pages, and reading from it. The same sequence can also be seen in the NBC News footage at around 11 minutes and 50 seconds. This clearly indicates that the folder belonged to the U.S. President and not Xi Jinping, and that Trump was not peeking into any private notebook. Another key detail is the embossed emblem on the folder, which closely resembles the Seal of the President of the United States. The American bald eagle, the national bird of the United States, is clearly visible at the centre. A comparison between the viral screenshot and the official seal shows they are nearly identical.
Conclusion
The viral claim is misleading and taken out of context. A detailed review of the full footage, including official recordings from NBC News and the White House, clearly shows that the folder in question belonged to Donald Trump and not Chinese President Xi Jinping. At multiple points in the video, Trump is seen opening, handling, and reading from the same folder, including while Xi Jinping is away from his seat and later after he returns. The visual evidence from the event also supports this conclusion. The embossed seal on the folder matches the official Seal of the President of the United States, further confirming that it was part of Trump’s official briefing material and not any private document belonging to Xi Jinping. Taken together, the full sequence of events and official video sources make it clear that the viral narrative has been incorrectly framed. There is no evidence to suggest that Trump was peeking into Xi Jinping’s personal notebook.

A separate review of the official X account of Home Minister Amit Shah also did not show any such statement or post confirming the viral claim.

Conclusion
The viral claim is false. Union Home Minister Amit Shah has not made any such statement.

Executive Summary
A postcard featuring BJP leader Manoj Tiwari is being widely shared on social media with a purported statement attributed to him. The viral postcard claims that Tiwari suggested that if people stopped using the ₹1 coin and treated ₹2 as ₹1, the value of the dollar would automatically come down to ₹45. Users are sharing the post claiming that the BJP leader made the bizarre suggestion to strengthen the Indian rupee against the US dollar.
However, research by the CyberPeace Research Wing found the claim to be false. Manoj Tiwari never made any such statement regarding the rupee and the dollar. The BJP MP himself has dismissed the viral claim as fake.
Claim
TMC leader Kirti Azad shared the viral postcard on X and wrote, “As received on X, forwarded as it is. India is truly blessed with such brilliant minds.”
https://x.com/KirtiAzaad/status/2055905987115233473?s=20

Fact Check
A keyword search on Google did not yield any credible media reports suggesting that Manoj Tiwari had made such a statement. No reliable source was found to support the viral claim. Further research led to a clarification posted on Manoj Tiwari’s official Facebook page. In the video statement, Tiwari categorically denied making any such remark about the rupee and the dollar. He stated that the viral claim being circulated in his name was completely fake.

Executive Summary
The Central Bureau of research (CBI) is currently probing the alleged leak of the NEET-UG 2026 examination paper, and several accused persons have already been arrested in connection with the case. Amid this, a video of senior BJP leader and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is being widely shared on social media. In the clip, he is heard saying, “There will be no resignations. This is not a UPA government, this is an NDA government.” Several users linked the video to the NEET controversy and claimed that Rajnath Singh made the remark while responding to demands for Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation over the alleged paper leak. However, research by the CyberPeace Research Wing found the viral claim to be false. An old video of Rajnath Singh is being misleadingly shared with a false context.
Claim
A Facebook user named “Ravi Kumar Huddi Baba” shared the viral clip on May 13, 2026, claiming that Rajnath Singh was defending the Modi government over demands for the resignation of the education minister in the NEET-UG paper leak case.

Fact Check
To verify the claim, relevant keyword searches were carried out using Google Open Search tools. No credible news reports were found confirming that Rajnath Singh had made any such statement regarding the NEET controversy or demands for Dharmendra Pradhan’s resignation. Had such a statement been made recently, it would likely have been widely reported by mainstream media outlets. A review of Rajnath Singh’s official social media accounts also yielded no such statement or video related to the NEET issue.
During the research, the full version of the viral clip was traced to an old press conference held on June 24, 2015, where Rajnath Singh and then Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad were briefing the media about Cabinet decisions. During the interaction, a journalist questioned them regarding resignations linked to controversies at the time. Responding to the question, Rajnath Singh made the now-viral remark. The complete press conference video is available on the BJP’s official YouTube channel and was streamed on June 24, 2015 itself. The viral portion can be heard after the 23-minute mark in the video.

Further searches led to an old report published by Navbharat Times on June 24, 2015. The report stated that Rajnath Singh had made the “NDA, not UPA” remark while responding to questions regarding ministers embroiled in controversies at that time.

Conclusion
The viral claim is false. Rajnath Singh has not made any recent statement linking the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case with demands for the education minister’s resignation. The viral clip is actually from a 2015 press conference and is being shared with misleading and false context.

Executive Summary
In the Philippines, social media users have been sharing a video and an image following complaints over sharp increases in electricity bills. The posts claim that, in exchange for higher electricity charges, low-income households are being provided free electricity and air conditioning units. However, a fact-check by CyberPeace Research Wing found no evidence to support these claims. A closer examination of the visuals revealed several inconsistencies and visual indicators suggesting that the content is likely AI-generated.
Claim
An image was also shared on Instagram on April 29, showing purported beneficiaries holding new air conditioning units allegedly provided “free by the government.”

Fact Check
However, the video and image circulating on social media do not actually show beneficiaries receiving any subsidy. A closer analysis of the visuals indicates that the content is AI-generated. In the initial frames of the misrepresented video, a diamond-shaped icon can be seen in the bottom-right corner, which is the watermark associated with Google’s Gemini AI model.
Further analysis using Google’s SynthID Detector, a tool designed to identify AI-generated content, indicated with a “very high” level of confidence that the material was created using the company’s AI technology.

The country’s social welfare agency also issued a statement on Facebook on April 30, rejecting the claim and saying it is “not true” and intended only to “propagate wrong information.” Social welfare agency statement on Facebook

Conclusion
However, the video and image circulating on social media do not actually show beneficiaries receiving any subsidy. A closer analysis of the visuals indicates that the content is AI-generated. In the initial frames of the misrepresented video, a diamond-shaped icon can be seen in the bottom-right corner, which is the watermark associated with Google’s Gemini AI model. The viral video and image are misleading. Multiple inconsistencies and visual cues suggest that the content is likely AI-generated, and the claim that low-income households are receiving free electricity and air conditioners is false.

Executive Summary
A photograph circulating widely on social media has been falsely linked to the reported hantavirus outbreak on a cruise ship in May 2026. The image is being shared with claims that it shows a cameraman filming evacuation operations without wearing personal protective equipment (PPE), suggesting that the global health scare was staged. However, the claim is misleading. The viral image has no connection to the hantavirus outbreak or any real evacuation related to the incident. research found that the photograph actually originates from a Spanish military exercise conducted a year earlier.
Claim
A post on X dated May 13, 2026, shared the image with the caption, “Don’t be fooled! The #Hantavirus HOAX,” alleging that the evacuations were staged events filmed from a movie set. The image shows several individuals in full personal protective equipment (PPE) carrying a patient on a biocontainment stretcher across a dock in front of a large vessel. A cameraman, dressed in plain clothes, is seen descending a ramp connected to the ship while apparently recording the scene.

Fact Check
The image went viral across X, Threads and Instagram in multiple languages, with users claiming the hantavirus outbreak was a “hoax” or that evacuation operations were staged. These posts emerged as authorities were monitoring passengers aboard the Dutch-flagged MV Hondius and others potentially exposed to the virus following reports of an outbreak during its Atlantic voyage.

Health officials have repeatedly stressed that the overall public health risk from the Andes strain of hantavirus remains low. It is a rare rodent-borne virus and the only variant known to transmit between humans.

Reverse image search traced the photograph to the official website of the Port of Almería in Spain, where it was published in a May 7, 2025 article documenting an international maritime exercise involving the Spanish Navy and the health ministry.

The exercise simulated the arrival of a vessel carrying suspected Ebola cases. Ebola is a rare but highly lethal disease that can cause fever, bleeding and organ failure.
Conclusion
The viral claim is false. The photograph has no connection to the reported hantavirus outbreak. It is from a Spanish military exercise conducted in 2025 and is being falsely shared out of context.

Executive Summary
During the Gau Raksha Yatra of Shankaracharya Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati, bees reportedly attacked a discourse event in Rohania area of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. Following the incident, a picture has gone viral on social media showing bees attacking Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati. Several users are sharing the image as genuine while targeting the Shankaracharya online. CyberPeace Research Wing investigated the viral image and found it to be fake. Our research revealed that the picture was created using Artificial Intelligence (AI). While it is true that a bee attack occurred during Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati’s discourse program, the viral image itself is fabricated.
Claim
A Facebook user named “Sanjay Chaudhary” shared the viral image on May 15, 2026, with the caption: “Prakritik kop ka bhajan bana Shukracharya Umashankar alias Avimukteshwaranand… This Kaalnemi was delivering false sermons in Rohania, Varanasi in the name of religion… The bees from a nearby hive did not like it and collectively attacked, creating chaos. Even insects and nature no longer like the opposition’s politics disguised as Sanatan Dharma. Calling Yogi Ji Aurangzeb, Akbar and butcher is not acceptable even to nature and insects.”

Fact-Check
To verify the viral claim, we used Google Open Search tools and found reports related to the incident on the YouTube channel of News18 UP Uttarakhand. A report published on May 13, 2026 stated that bees attacked the discourse event during Swami Avimukteshwaranand’s Gau Raksha Yatra in Rohania, Varanasi. The incident created panic at the venue, forcing the Swami to end his discourse midway. The channel also uploaded a YouTube Shorts video related to the incident.

As part of the research, we further analyzed the viral image using AI detection tools. First, we used the tool “Sight Engine,” which indicated an 88 percent probability that the image was AI-generated.

We then examined the image using another AI detection tool called “Undetectable,” which also suggested that the photo was likely created using AI.

Conclusion
Our research found that the viral image is AI-generated. The picture was created using artificial intelligence tools. While bees did attack during Swami Avimukteshwaranand Saraswati’s Gau Raksha Yatra on May 13, 2026, the viral image circulating on social media is fictional and not real.

Executive Summary
A video is being widely shared on social media amid claims that the BJP has formed a government in West Bengal. The video shows several people being taken away in a bus while their family members are seen crying and grieving nearby. Users sharing the clip claim that the scene is from West Bengal, where the BJP government has allegedly started sending back Bangladeshis who were living illegally in the state.
Research by CyberPeace Research Wing found the viral claim to be misleading. The research revealed that the viral video has no connection with West Bengal. The video is actually from Assam’s Barpeta district, where in 2024, a Foreigners Tribunal declared 28 people as non-citizens. Following the order, authorities shifted them to a transit camp. The viral clip is from that incident. An old and unrelated video is now being falsely shared as a recent incident from West Bengal.
Claim
On May 14, 2026, a Facebook user shared the viral video and wrote, “How sad… Opposition voters are now being packed off to the Bangladesh border from Bengal and Assam. How will they ever win now? Really terrible what is happening to these poor people.” The post link, archive link, and screenshot are provided below.
- https://archive.ph/y7Y4D

Another user also shared the same viral video on social media with a similar claim. The post link, archive link, and screenshot are given below.

Fact Check
To verify the authenticity of the viral video, we extracted several key frames and performed a reverse image search. During the research, we found the same video uploaded on a YouTube channel named Daily Salar Digital on September 5, 2024. The link to the post and its screenshot are given below.

Further research led us to a report published by IndiaTodayNE on September 3, 2024, carrying a similar description of the incident. The post link and screenshot are provided below.

Conclusion
Our research found that the viral video has no connection with West Bengal. The clip is from Assam’s Barpeta district, where in 2024, 28 people were declared non-citizens by a Foreigners Tribunal and later shifted to a transit camp by authorities. The video being shared online is from that incident. An old and unrelated video is being falsely circulated as a recent development from West Bengal.

Executive Summary
A video is going viral on social media claiming that a salon has been opened inside a State Bank of India (SBI) ATM in Bihar. The video is also being used by some users to take political jibes at the central and state governments led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). However, the CyberPeace Research Wing’s research has found that this claim is misleading. The location shown in the viral video was earlier an SBI ATM, which had been shut down around six months ago. After the bank discontinued its operations at the site, the ATM machine and other equipment were removed. However, the external structure of the ATM cabin and the SBI signage were not removed at that time. After the premises were vacated, the property owner rented out the space to a salon operator. Since the SBI board and branding were still visible on the structure, the video created confusion and went viral with misleading claims.
Following the circulation of the video, the bank later removed its signage from the location and also cleared all remaining SBI branding from the structure. Our research also found that the bank had removed the ATM machine and equipment months earlier, but the cabin structure and SBI board were left behind. After that, the space was rented out for commercial use as a salon. In this context, it would be incorrect to claim that a salon was opened inside an active SBI ATM.
Claim
A Facebook user ‘Soumitra Roy’ shared a video on 11 May 2026 claiming:
“Someone has opened a barber shop inside an SBI ATM in Bihar. The BJP’s double-engine government has developed Bihar so much that loan EMIs can now be deducted directly inside ATMs. This is Modi’s masterstroke.”
- https://perma.cc/WTY2-WEQQ

Fact Check
To verify the viral claim, a keyword search based on the video was conducted. Several media reports were found, which clarified the full context of the incident. A report uploaded on the YouTube channel ‘Live Cities’ on 12 May 2026 stated that a salon was running at a former ATM location in Danapur, Bihar. The bank had already vacated the premises about six months earlier, but its signage had not been removed. The report also includes an interview with the property owner, who confirmed that the bank had removed its ATM machine and equipment six months ago and later the space was rented out to a salon operator.

The viral video was also found on the Jagran website in a news report dated 11 May 2026. The report states that an SBI ATM previously existed at the location. The bank had removed the ATM machine due to operational reasons but left behind the external structure and signage. Later, the space was rented out to a salon operator, who began running his business from the same setup.

Conclusion
Our research found that the viral post is misleading. It is incorrect to claim that a salon was opened inside an SBI ATM. The truth is that the bank had shut down the ATM at this location around six months ago and removed all machines and equipment. After that, the premises were rented out to a salon operator, which led to confusion due to the presence of old SBI signage.
