Fact Check
To verify the claim, the Desk conducted a reverse image search using keyframes from the viral video. The search led us to a longer version of the footage uploaded on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s official YouTube channel on June 21, 2025. We reviewed the longer video and found that the audio in the viral clip does not match the original footage. The original video does not feature the national anthem being played. Instead, a female announcer on the stage can be heard asking the gathering to welcome Prime Minister Modi upon his arrival in Siwan, Bihar. The description accompanying the original video also states that people gave Prime Minister Modi a warm welcome upon his arrival in Siwan.

The investigation also found several media reports published on June 20, 2025, which reported that Modi had visited Siwan ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections and inaugurated or laid the foundation stones for development projects worth around Rs 5,900 crore. News18 report on PM Modi’s Siwan visit
The original footage therefore establishes that the scene was related to Modi’s welcome in Siwan and not to the playing of the national anthem.
Conclusion
The claim that Prime Minister Narendra Modi disrespected the national anthem by walking during its rendition is false. The original footage does not contain the national anthem. The audio heard in the viral clip has been added separately to the video, creating a false impression about the incident.

Fact Check
We conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens, which led us to a video uploaded on The Tribune's verified YouTube channel that matched the viral clip. In the original video, Vikram Misri clarified that the Government of India neither officially participated in, supported, nor was involved in any event related to India-Pakistan dialogue. He further stated that the government had taken no cognisance of such private events and that the retired dignitaries and diplomats present were expressing their personal views, not speaking on behalf of the Government of India.

Since we found no evidence that Vikram Misri had ever made the statements attributed to him in the viral clip, we analysed the video using Hive Moderation's AI-generated content detection tool. The analysis indicated that the viral video is 96 per cent AI-generated.
To further verify the claim, we analysed the audio using Hiya Audio Intelligence. The tool concluded that the voice in the viral video appears to have been generated or modified using artificial intelligence.
Conclusion
The viral video is misleading. Our research found that the video of Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri had been manipulated using artificial intelligence. He never made any statement claiming that the Indian government disclosed the names of soldiers killed during Operation Sindoor due to pressure from their families. Therefore, the viral claim is false.
Introduction:
Former Egyptian MP Ahmed Eltantawy was targeted with Cytrox’s predator spyware through links sent via SMS and WhatsApp. Former Egyptian MP Ahmed Eltantawy has been targeted with Cytrox’s Predator spyware in a campaign believed to be state-sponsored cyber espionage. After Eltantawy made his intention to run for president in the 2024 elections known, the targeting took place between May and September 2023. The spyware was distributed using links sent via SMS and WhatsApp, network injection, and visits to certain websites by Eltantawy. The Citizen Lab examined the assaults with the help of Google's Threat Analysis Group (TAG), and they were able to acquire an iPhone zero-day exploit chain that was designed to be used to install spyware on iOS versions up to 16.6.1.
Investigation: The Ahmed Eltantawy Incident
Eltantawy's device was forensically examined by The Citizen Lab, which uncovered several efforts to use Cytrox's Predator spyware to target him. In the investigation, The Citizen Lab and TAG discovered an iOS exploit chain utilised in the attacks against Eltantawy. They started a responsible disclosure procedure with Apple, and as a consequence, it resulted in the release of updates patching the vulnerabilities used by the exploit chain. Mobile zero-day exploit chains may be quite expensive, with black market values for them exceeding millions of dollars. The Citizen Lab also identified several domain names and IP addresses associated with Cytrox’s Predator spyware. Additionally, a network injection method was also utilised to get the malware onto Eltantawy's phone, according to the study. He would be discreetly routed to a malicious website using network injection when he went to certain websites that weren't HTTPS.

Cyber espionage, also referred to as cyber spying, is a sort of cyberattack in which an unauthorised user tries to obtain confidential or sensitive information or intellectual property (IP) for financial gain, business benefit, or political objectives.

Notably, the United States and Iran had agreed to a two-week ceasefire on April 8, 2026, with discussions reportedly scheduled for April 11 in Islamabad. Amid this backdrop, a video showing fighter jets escorting a large aircraft is being widely circulated on social media. Users claim that Pakistan deployed these jets to escort an Iranian delegation into the country.
However, an research by the CyberPeace found the claim to be false. The viral video is not recent and dates back to 2019.
Claim
An X (formerly Twitter) user shared the video claiming that Pakistan Air Force jets were escorting an Iranian delegation into Pakistan.
Fact Check
Reverse image search of keyframes from the viral video led us to a February 18, 2019 report by Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty. The report stated that the fighter jets were deployed by Pakistan to escort the aircraft of Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his visit to Pakistan on February 17, 2019.
Further verification led us to the same footage uploaded on YouTube by the channel “SCMP Archive” on July 6, 2020. At the time, Pakistan’s Air Force had described the escort as part of a ceremonial welcome tradition for visiting dignitaries.
Conclusion
The viral claim is misleading. The video does not show Pakistani fighter jets escorting an Iranian delegation amid ongoing ceasefire talks. Instead, it is an old clip from 2019, when Pakistan deployed JF-17 fighter jets to welcome Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman during his official visit. There is no evidence linking the video to current geopolitical developments involving Iran and Pakistan. The footage has been taken out of context and reshared with a false narrative to mislead viewers.
