#Fact Check: Viral video of fighter pilot repairing aircraft mid-air is AI-generated

On August 1, an X user named "Sarah for Trump" shared the clip, claiming it showed an Iranian fighter pilot repairing his aircraft in mid-air. The post alleged that the video had been released by Iran's Revolutionary Guards to intimidate the United States and Israel. Text overlaid on the video read: "A brave maneuver by an Iranian pilot that no pilot in the world has ever performed." (At the time of publishing this story, the video had garnered 2.6 million views)

To verify the claim, we first analysed the viral video using the InVid verification tool and extracted several keyframes. A reverse image search of these frames through Google Lens led us to multiple social media posts carrying the same video with similar claims. The search also led us to an Instagram account named "viralism.ai", where the identical video had been uploaded on June 14. A comparison confirmed that the visuals matched the viral clip exactly, indicating that the Instagram upload was the original source from which the video was later circulated with a false narrative.

A review of the Instagram account further revealed that it primarily publishes AI-generated content. The account's description clearly states "AI Viral Videos and Trends," indicating that the video was created using artificial intelligence rather than depicting a real event. To further confirm our findings, we analysed the clip using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation. The results showed a high probability that the video was AI-generated, with several portions of the footage being flagged as synthetic
Conclusion
The research found that the viral video does not depict a real-life incident. The footage showing a fighter pilot allegedly repairing an aircraft engine during flight was generated using artificial intelligence and later circulated online as genuine. The accompanying claim that the video was released by Iran's Revolutionary Guards to threaten the United States and Israel is also false.

In addition to this, we also found a video of ABP News, originally aired on March 20, 2018, was part of a fact-checking segment that debunked the rumor of a GST on greetings.

The claim circulating online suggests that the Government will start applying a 18% of GST on all "Good Morning" texts sent through mobile phones from 1st of April, this year. This tax would be added to the monthly mobile bills.
Fact Check:
When we received the news, we first did some relevant keyword searches regarding the news. We found a Facebook Video by ABP News titled Viral Sach: ‘Govt to impose 18% GST on sending good morning messages on WhatsApp?’
We have watched the full video and found out that the News is 6 years old. The Research Wing of CyberPeace Foundation also found the full version of the widely shared ABP News clip on its website, dated March 20, 2018. The video showed a newspaper clipping from Navbharat Times, published on March 2, 2018, which had a humorous article with the saying "Bura na mano, Holi hain." The recent viral image is a cutout image from ABP News that dates back to the year 2018.
Hence, the recent image that is spreading widely is Fake and Misleading.
Conclusion:
The viral message claiming that the government will impose GST (Goods and Services Tax) on "Good morning" messages is completely fake. The newspaper clipping used in the message is from an old comic article published by Navbharat Times, while the clip and image from ABP News have been taken out of context to spread false information.

Nations across the globe are struggling with this issue. The Ministry of Defence of the Government of India has been fundamental to take preventive measures towards all attacks on the Republic of India. The ministry is the junction for all three forces: Airforce, Navy and Army and creates coordination between the forces and deploys the force at strategic locations in terms of enemy threats.
The new OS
Governments across the world have developed various cyber security measures and mechanisms to keep data and information safe and secure. Similarly, the Indian Government has been very critical in deploying cybersecurity strategies, policies, measures, and bills to safeguard the Indian cyber-ecosystem. The Ministry of Defence has recently made a transition in terms of the Operating System used in the daily functions of the ministry. Earlier, the ministry was using an OS from Microsoft, which has now been replaced with the indigenous OS named “Maya” based on open-source Ubuntu. This is the first time the ministry will be deploying indigenous operating software. This step comes at a time of global rise in cyber attacks, and the aspect of indigenous OS will prevent malware and spyware attacks.
What is Maya?
Users will not notice many differences while switching to Maya because it has a similar interface and functionality to Windows. The first instruction is to install Maya on all South Block PCs with Internet access before August 15. In these systems, a Chakravyuh “endpoint detection and protection system” is also being installed. Maya isn’t yet installed on any computers connected to the networks of the three Services; instead, it is solely used in Defence Ministry systems. It had also been reviewed by the three Services and would shortly be adopted on service networks. The Army and Air Force were currently reviewing it after the Navy had already given its approval.
OS Maya was created by government development organisations in less than six months. An official from the ministry has informed that Maya would stop malware attacks and other cyberattacks, which have sharply increased. The nation has recently experienced a number of malware and extortion attacks, some of which targeted vital infrastructure. The Defence Ministry has made repeated attempts in the past to switch from Windows to an Indian operating system.
