#Fact Check: Viral video of fighter pilot repairing aircraft mid-air is AI-generated

On August 1, an X user named "Sarah for Trump" shared the clip, claiming it showed an Iranian fighter pilot repairing his aircraft in mid-air. The post alleged that the video had been released by Iran's Revolutionary Guards to intimidate the United States and Israel. Text overlaid on the video read: "A brave maneuver by an Iranian pilot that no pilot in the world has ever performed." (At the time of publishing this story, the video had garnered 2.6 million views)

FactCheck
To verify the claim, we first analysed the viral video using the InVid verification tool and extracted several keyframes. A reverse image search of these frames through Google Lens led us to multiple social media posts carrying the same video with similar claims. The search also led us to an Instagram account named "viralism.ai", where the identical video had been uploaded on June 14. A comparison confirmed that the visuals matched the viral clip exactly, indicating that the Instagram upload was the original source from which the video was later circulated with a false narrative.

A review of the Instagram account further revealed that it primarily publishes AI-generated content. The account's description clearly states "AI Viral Videos and Trends," indicating that the video was created using artificial intelligence rather than depicting a real event. To further confirm our findings, we analysed the clip using the AI detection tool Hive Moderation. The results showed a high probability that the video was AI-generated, with several portions of the footage being flagged as synthetic
Conclusion
The research found that the viral video does not depict a real-life incident. The footage showing a fighter pilot allegedly repairing an aircraft engine during flight was generated using artificial intelligence and later circulated online as genuine. The accompanying claim that the video was released by Iran's Revolutionary Guards to threaten the United States and Israel is also false.

On March 1, 2026, an Instagram user shared the viral video in which Ayatollah Ali Khamenei is heard saying, “Beware of fake news, I am alive.” The link to the post and its archived version are provided above along with a screenshot.
Fact Check:
To verify the authenticity of the claim, we extracted key frames from the viral video and conducted a reverse image search using Google Lens. During the research, we found the same video on the YouTube channel of Sky News Australia, published on June 19, 2025. In the approximately 43-minute-long video, the portion used in the viral clip appears around the 10-minute mark.
According to Sky News Australia’s report, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei had rejected US President Donald Trump’s demand for unconditional surrender. The Ayatollah regime also warned that any American military intervention would be accompanied by “irreparable damage.” Upon closely listening to the viral clip, we noticed that Khamenei’s voice sounded robotic, raising suspicion that it may have been AI-generated. We then analyzed the video using the AI detection tool AURGIN AI. The results indicated that the viral clip had been generated using artificial intelligence.
Conclusion
Our research establishes that the viral video is old and has been digitally manipulated. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei’s voice has been altered using artificial intelligence and the clip is being shared with a misleading claim.

The viral image is AI-generated, and Mohan Bhagwat did not inaugurate any “52nd Shakti Peeth.” In reality, he laid the foundation stone of the Bharatdurga Temple.

An X user named Sandeep Dev shared the viral image and alleged that after creating “fake Shankaracharyas,” the RSS had now introduced a new form of Goddess Durga called “Bharat Durga” and declared it the 52nd Shakti Peeth. The post further claimed that the RSS was redefining Hinduism and creating new religious sites.
Fact Check
To verify the claim, we searched relevant keywords and found reports published on April 24, 2026, by India TV and Navbharat Times. According to these reports, Mohan Bhagwat laid the foundation stone of the world’s first Bharatdurga Temple in Nagpur during a ceremony organized at the Jamtha campus of Dr. Abaji Thatte Seva and Research Institute. Several prominent saints and religious leaders attended the event. Importantly, none of the reports described the temple as the “52nd Shakti Peeth.”
Further research led us to the full video of the foundation ceremony uploaded on the YouTube channel of Devendra Fadnavis. The stage backdrop and video thumbnail clearly mention “Bharatdurga Temple Foundation Ceremony.” However, the viral image frame was not visible anywhere in the authentic footage.
We also analyzed the viral image using AI detection tools, which indicated that the image was AI-generated.
Conclusion
Our research confirms that the claim about Mohan Bhagwat laying the foundation of a “52nd Shakti Peeth” is false. The viral image is AI-generated. In reality, he participated in the foundation ceremony of the Bharatdurga Temple in Nagpur.
